Bridgefarm Project
Emerald Research Ltd to lead £600,000 BRIDGEFARM project
Emerald Research Ltd (ERL) is pleased to announce that it will lead BRIDGEFARM, an Innovate UK project valued at £600,000. The 12-month project brings together ERL, Light Science Technologies and the University of Lincoln to explore how continuous field measurements can support better crop nutrition decisions.
BRIDGEFARM will bring data from an in-field sensor into ERL’s Agrimentum® agronomy platform. The aim is to combine those measurements with soil and crop information to provide practical advice that responds to changing field conditions. The project will also examine how the data can provide clearer evidence of field-level greenhouse gas emissions.
The consortium will develop and test the integrated system through field trials, assessing how reliably the sensor performs and how useful the resulting advice is to growers and agronomists.
Simon Fox, ERL CEO and BRIDGEFARM project lead, said: “This is an exciting step for ERL. Growers make important decisions in conditions that can change quickly, yet much of the information available to them is only a snapshot. BRIDGEFARM gives us the opportunity to bring continuous field measurements into the advice we provide and test how that can help growers use nutrients more effectively. We are delighted to be working with Light Science Technologies and the University of Lincoln to take this forward.”
For ERL, the project builds on the science and field experience behind its OptiYield® approach. ERL looks forward to sharing findings as the work progresses.
